CROSSOVER DRIBBLE

The demonstrator above does a good job
of keeping the ball low during the crossover dribble,
but is dribbling too high the rest of the time. You will want
to keep your body at an angle so that you are protecting
the ball. When you crossover, your body turns so that
you are essentially dribbling behind your lead foot,
forearm out. We call this "Magic" after Magic Johnson.
Stay low, dribble low in traffic...look for an
opportunity to blow-by a defender who is pressuring
you. If they are playing you tight, the opportunity to
use a move and explode past, or just to blow-by
the defender will be there. Protect the ball.
