Fehringer and Thomazin Gather
(Kearney, NE.. Oct. 19, 2018) Both the Scotus girls
and boys cross country teams competed Friday in the Class C
cross country meet at the Kearney Country Club. Both squads
finished in the top half of the twelve Class C teams that
qualified through their district meets. The Scotus girls
finished third as a team in Class C, led by Olivia Fehringer
who earned an individual medal by placing 15th. The Scotus
boys finished sixth. Elliott Thomazin capped off a stellar
senior season with a 10th place medal. Special thanks to
Kelsey Faust, Nathan Schumacher, Carter Thorson, and Lucas
Schaecher who also completed their senior season Friday.
Sweep District Titles. Five Girls and Two Boys Medal
All Twelve Varsity Runners
Qualify for the Class C Championship
(Albion, NE.. Oct. 11, 2018) Though the Scotus girls
and boys teams both won their respective district cross
country races Thursday in Albion, the details could not be
more different. The girls placed their top five runners in
the fifteen medalist spots and won the team title
over runner-up and host Boone Central/Newman Grove 21-33.
Tyler Vaught sprinted past four opposing runners in the last
200 meters to finish beside teammate Benjamin Juarez and put
the outcome of the boys race in question. The boys had two
medalists and the race was so close, they had to wait until
the awards ceremony to see if they had won. When results
were tabulated, the Shamrocks had defeated host Boone
Central/Newman Grove 46-47.
The district championships enable all six members of each
team to compete in the Class C state championship race
Friday, Oct. 19 at the Kearney Country Club.
Girls medalists included Olivia Fehringer (3), Kelsey Faust
(5), Liza Zaruba (8), Brea Lassek (12), and Liz Adamy (14).
Elliott Thomazin (3) and Michael Gasper (6) medaled in the

Lord will renew their strength,
they will soar as with eagles wings;
They will run and not grow weary,
walk and not grow faint."
