![]() On the Cutting Edge of Societal Satire
by Karla Marx She's one of the greatest thinkers of our times, rivaling her close friend, Hillary Rodman Clinton. She's mastered the two crafts she loves most, singing and acting. Now, she's looking for a new challenge, and has asked President Bill Clinton to make her an Ambassador. My thoughts as an objective, mainstream journalist? Give her the job, damnit Bill. Babs has proven herself to be a true blue patriot, once threatening to leave America forever if her candidate didn't get win the Presidency. I'm glad that the American people took her threat seriously, because I personally believe it was the fear of losing Barbara Streisand, a national treasure, that forced George Bush out of office. It's that sort of commitment that we need in our Ambassadors. What are her qualifications? For starters, she is an international celebrity, loved by everyone. A shining star, a woman of purity who's not afraid to take a stand no matter what conservative she angers. It was Babs who took the bold stand in Hollywood when everyone else was doing it, condemning Ronald Reagan and the 1980's as the decade of greed. I forget if this was before or after she signed a $60 million recording contract in the same decade...it doesn't matter. Right is right and Babs knows it. It was Babs who's voice resonated loudly as she accused the insurance industry, pharmaceutical companies and the medical community of being nothing more than price gougers, out to get every cent of profit possible from consumers, right before she flew off to her $25,000 a seat New Year's Eve performance in Australia. Babs...I can just see her now dazzling heads of foreign nation with her brilliant political analysis. She is a gifted thinker, and could teach Alan Greenspan a few things about the need for socializing the working class. She once said that if America would only listen to her, we could turn this country into a Mecca, like her hero, Fidel Castro has done in Cuba. She's been a tireless leader, an advocate for tolerance and diversity, in the crusade to stamp out conservatism and silence people like Rush Limbaugh. There are those who say, "Hey Babs, why should you make all that money, yet call other people trying to make a buck greedy?" Her answer was off the cuff, profound yet to the point. "I'm worth it. I work hard. Entertainers earn our money, we don't just buy some building and start raking in obscene profits. We have to know what we're doing, and we put in long hours." Bill...give her the job. Do this country - and the world - a favor and make Barbra Streisand an Ambassador. Home | International | Americana | Entertainment Conspiracies | Sports | Opinion Republication
